I was out of town over the weekend visiting my sister and her family, which meant I also was able to take a bit of a bento break. Once I got home, though, I hopped right back on and recycled one of my favorite food art plates:
This endless cold weather calls for some color, don’t you think? I love citrus-y hues; they’re like a promise of summer, whenever Old Man Winter finally decides we’ve had enough. The fruit ended up in a pitcher to up my water intake throughout the day. The kids aren’t crazy about infused water, so I’m experimenting with different flavors to find one they’ll like. Suggestions welcome!
I also have no shame in repeating these mommy+me parfaits. I need to get more nuts and seeds into my diet, and this is a good way to do so without feeling so squirrely.
- coconut yogurt
- bananas, kiwi, strawberries
- pumpkin seeds
- sunflower seeds
- mini chocolate chips
Don’t feel pressured to come up with something new and creative with every food art or school lunch. One of the main reasons I’ve kept a gallery is so that I have a portfolio of ideas on hand for those days I drag myself to the kitchen–which happen often around here!
